Dr. Benn Konsynski, George S. Craft Emory University Professor of Business Administration and Decision and Information Analysis;
and Glenn Martin, CTO, INTENT MediaWorks, led the discussion on the rapid changes in Web development and the effect these
changes have on corporate strategy, at a recent luncheon of the CIO Roundtable Forum at the Buckhead Club. Dr. Konsynski,
formerly on the faculty of Harvard University and consultant to major corporations, told the assembled group of technology
executives that advances in technology are becoming outside the control of the typical business, thus becoming the driver of business
strategy, not the other way around. “The business model is changing,” he said. “No longer can a business control its infrastructure to
deliver its product in a time honored way. New technology is developing outside business control and understanding how to use it is
dictating to business how they will operate. Technology is replacing strategy as the first consideration of business planners.”
